All lessons are taught by an adaptive teacher, who can adjust to all your needs and requirements. I have been teaching professionally for 20 plus years and running my own successful craft school for 11+ years. I have a lot of students who stay for years and many join by word and mouth. I can take you from the beginning of your chosen course - all the way through to advanced skills. You will be taught a glossary of techniques and stitches – all at your own comfortable speed. You will be having a lot of fun while attending class too.

Learn to cast on with a neat chain. Moving on to learn how to make the following stitches: treble, double crochet, half trebles and double trebles. Using these stitches to learn how to increase and decrease and crochet in a circle. These skills will enable you to crochet a granny square or even a bag, the world is your oyster – so many amazing items can be made with crochet.

Learn: How to cut out and read a pattern, appropriate pattern placement on fabric. Correctly laying out and cutting fabric, using your pattern. Basic construction; including: darts, seams and hem. I recommend an ‘A’ line skirt (Newlook 6843 or Burda 8765 or 6682) with waist band and zip. These foundation dressmaking skills will enable you to really understand the process of pattern, fabric and how they work together. An excellent starting block for you to step into the world of making your own clothes...
Please note you will be required to supply your own fabric, pattern and haberdashery, sewing machine*, sewing box and equipment for this course.

Embroidery – Please enquire for dates.
Cross Stitch
Know your fabric count, how to use grids and graphs, the art to even stitches and a neat back. How to start and finish; your threads correctly, using several colours together without getting into a tangle.
Free Hand Embroidery
Learn to set up and prepare your fabric, how to copy and draw a simple design onto the fabric (we are not talking a master piece here, just a tiny simple outline of a flower and leaves etc.), and sorting your threads for ease of use. Fill in with 10-12 embroidery stitches that will stand you in good stead for all further projects.
Knitting
6 (Alternate) Week Course; starting:

Learn how to cast on, make garter stitch, purl stitch and cast off. Using these skills you will be able to make a hat, using chucky yarn – a lovely little project to start exploring the amazing world of knitting.

Know your Overlocker
Two Hour Course
Price £50.00
Please contact me when you need a lesson and we will find a mutually convenient time.
Learn: To confidently thread your machine, and change threads, when to use 3 or 4 threads, change the foot if possible, move forwards and round curves, set the tension and stitch width. Bringing in the manual would be very useful. Please note this is not a fault or maintenance workshop. This course is also applicable to anybody thinking of purchasing an overlocker and would like to try one before buying. The school has two overlockers and therefore first booked has priority on a school machine, if required.
Know your Sewing Machine
Two Hour Course

Learn: To confidently thread your machine, wind the bobbin, insert the bobbin correctly, change the feet, move forwards and backwards, set the tension or learn how to use the embroidery stitches. This workshop is aimed at machines with approximately 20 built in stitch. Please bring your manual.

Learn: How to choose the correct colours to make your project pop. How to use a rotary cutter, with the cutting ruler and moving on to be able to machine seam while, piecing your work together. You will finish 2 blocks in this course that can be made into a cushion cover or tote bag.
